i dwew sum pweety gurls for you

the title is half true,
this morning i worked on these designs fora contest
i am super didley proud of them
and i wish someone would make them real.

Now yesterday I drew some pretty girls from NYLON magazine, their summer/music issue.
This first one I kinda gave up on half way through, but it was some model chick in checkerboard stockings (so cool btw) fondling a chanel guitar. Like you can't get anymore fashionable/musical than that, amiright?
Photobucket

Now the sketch is darker than what it was scanned, but i was going for a softer look. The first girl is something Gaul (I know because the article was called Gaul Interrupted and I laughed because it was almost as funny as me) and the second is someone from the girl band the Plasticines? Never heard of them but they are a pretty bunch.

I'd want to sit around a type up a nicer more engaging entry but I've been sitting in front of the cmputer for hours now (working on the dseigns) and I wanna relax, watch some Space Buddies and then the finale of Dexter Season 1 which is oh, so amazing.

if you go chasing rabbits, and you know your going to fall

So anyway, almost living in a box when it comes to trends and internet, I just recentley discovered the Huffington Post which is like my new favorite place to get up-to date information. It has like everything including omgnomotherfuckingway NEW PICTURES FOR TIM BURTON'S ALICE IN WONDERLAND IN 3-D.
NO WAI.

Oh hai there Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.
Jeez, I sweaar to god, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are boyfriends. Depp is pree much in every movie Burton has done. But I am loving the look, (besides the orange hair. Like ew.)The top hat looks su-weet. It looks golden, but covered in lace and punctured with all manner of things, including the classic 10/6 paper. And I really want that bowtie, it looks like skulls but I think it's just a floral print. OMGSOMINDBLOWING ALL READY! (I feel like dressing up as him, it would be a great Halloween costume)

Of course, Helena Bonham Carter is in it as well. She's almost in all the movies Burton directs (makes sense since they are married)(which remnds me of this photoshoot I've seen of them in that is based after Roald Dahl) as much as Depp, but noooooooot as much. Do I smell an affair. I think I do.
Not much to say about her costume design... the Photoshopping in this picture it a bit more obvious.

Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, that was a surprise to me. I've come to realize that Anne is very dextrous (is that the word) in her acting. She's done the widest array of characters: Ella Enchanted, whats-her-face from The Devil wears Prada and the alcoholic sister in Rachel getting Married. She's just so talented.

I don't really know who the White Queen is though... I only know the Disney version of Alice, as well as only a few chapters of the actual book. *Borderline ADD hooray* She is more like the Blonde Queen at the moment except for THOSE EYEBROWS. DYE THOSE EYEBROWS GURL.

Anyway, I'm super excited for the movie which comes out in 2010... which suuuuuuuucks. I hate waiting. I'm looking forward to how the story will be Burtonized. I hope there is plenty of Gothic Lolitaness, cuz I'm currently obsessed with it and Alice in Wonderland is the perfect inspiration for it.

Now I know the soundtrack is most likely going to be all written originally but here are some songs I'd like to hear for the movie. The just seem to fit the Wonderland mindset.
  1. Nightswimmer by Beth Jeans Houghton feat. Adem.
  2. Daydreamer by Patrick Watson
  3. Coat Check Dream by Bright Eyes
  4. What Are You Waiting For? by Gwen Stefani (ahaha how could you not, the video is based off of Alice in Wonderland)
  5. What's A Girl to Do? by Bat for Lashes (or something by her, she is surreal but dark)
  6. If Panic at the Disco did a song for this like they did for Nightmare Before Christmas, that would be a dreeeeeam come true. Their Pretty. Odd. album almost fits the atmosphere
These are pretty much never gonna happen but I can dream?
I hope someone like Bruno Coulais (Coraline) or Jan A.P Kaczmarek (Finding Neverland) does the soundtrack. I love the sound tracks they did for their respective moments, and I think their styles combined would be perfect for the movie.

I'm gonna go check who is doing the soundtrack, maybe it's up :O
Till nextie!

happy one year anniversary milk crisis

so i think it's too early to say i'm addicted to blogging but i can't help that I like sharing stuff.
i'm not actually writing this when it's published but rather, the day before (shortly after my FIRSTFIRSTFIRST entry) because i'm trying to post everyday and i will probably be at the top of a rollercoaster screaming at the top of my lungs very manly and stoically like *insert witty celebrity reference* and not at all like a girl. believe me, this typeface would not lie to you.

anywhoooooo,
i was looking up one of my fave indie bands on youtube, obviously making use of my summer day when i came upon a new video for the Go! Team. well, new at least to me... so new that i thought that they had managed to post INTO THE MOTHERFEKKING FUTURE. the date on it was June 24th, and it was June 23rd, so I was pretty flabbergasted.

Turns out it was June 24th 2008, so it was released a day less of a year ago. What a strange coinkydence that I stumbled upon it. SO I think it deserves to be blogged.

Nothing entirely spectacular, but I'm really digging the retro video game vibe. Most of their videos AND songs are pretty retro, and like 90's retro so I can totally relate word yo.
Most of the lyrics are pretty undecipherable... but the whole vibe of their songs are always great. This is from their album Proof of Youth, which I need to illegally download. It may become part of my summer playlist(???)

Also, I did not know their drummer was AZN, (my friend just soiled himself. he lurves him some AZNS).
Anyway, segueing on from the retro arcade vibe, just wanna let you know I'm doing an art auction on Gaia with the same theme. We gotta do theme pictures to go with the theme (obvs) and here is mine.

Photobucket

It combines some of my greatest loves: Bubble Bobble and anthropomorphic hoodies! Highschoolmusicaljump for joy!
Heh... oh! and bright neon colours that make you want to claw out your eyes/ rob a crossing guard for his safety vest.

If you has Gaia + gold then get your ass over there and bidplz.
So I can buy pretty pixelated items :D

Ahahaha, I'm getting less lame I think :B

Naming stuff sucks.

Today's the day.
The day exams are (finally) done. The day a stress free summer begins. Hot showers become cold ones. Sleeping on top of bedcovers and waking up at lunch time. I am officially in cruise control.
But most importantly,
today's the day I start this blog.

I've been promising to myself to make one at the start of summer. I've been composing blog entries in my mind. My mind is abrim, just ABRIM with ideas... I don't think abrim is word but you get the idea.

And gosh was it hard to pick a name and URL. I have like a mental/physical disability when it comes to picking out names. My fingers tense up like a crochety old hag, and my mind draws such a blank. I'm a bit of a perfectionist at everything, and naming this blog was just the same.

I need a name thats catchy, unique, memorable, but still makes sense in context to the material. It can't be a really short word (those are usually taken) but it can't be too long and easy to forget/mistype. I don't want to be straightforward and Call this "Cristian's Blog" but I don't want to be art school conceptual and call it 'forest building onamatapoeia' and then some how incorporate coloured squiggles and mathematic equations.

Here are my pathetic attempts:

epitome of righteousness
half inspired by how cool i think i am (i.e epitome) and half inspired by this pullout I got from one of my sisters Dear Dumb Diary books (whch I know are for like 8 year old girls but they are goddamned hilarious)

I hang this in my room so I NEVAR FORGET how righteous my grooves ARE.
too bad the name too long and I'm afraid of the religious zealots it might attract.
i shall dance on however

i am my own religion
my name IS Cristian, no h, but it's still close to Christianity
kids still think asking me if I am a Christian is hilarious.
oh haha play on words.
wow.
makes me sound like a cult leader though :\

powered by eccentricity
you now, like powered my electricity...
but eccentricity
get it
haha
your stunned silence is very reasurring

live vicariously through my blog
vicarious is me new word
it's from the dos equis commercial with the most intersting man in the world
he "lives vicariously through himself" so I though, i'll do the same through my blog
but vicarious means to live through something else... and then it just sounds sad.

bitchplz i'm way more interesting and bearded
anyway, stay thirsty my friends

paper moon
it's sounds very indie and though provoking does it not?
too bad it's shares it's name with a 70's movie that sounds borderline pedophilic
aaaaaaaand a "gentlemen's club" a.k.a a strip joint
who knows i didn't go into it's 18+ website....
or did i?
Photobucket
exactley.
too bad cause i wanted to use the Moon with a rocket in his eye from "A Trip to the Moon"
I saw it on a turntable once and now i can't find it! damned intrawebz

paper stars
along the same lines of paper moon, but less sexually charged ;)
too bad it's waaaaaaaaaaay overused

and finally
an epiphany on my way home!
PAPER GALAXIES
mysterious,
thought provoking
memorable
AND NO WAY AFFILIATED TO SLEAZE JOINTS OR AMISH CULTS!
SCORE!

I made the blog on the spot... well when I got home, but so I didn't have any second thoughts.
Now this is written out and I'm quite pleased... I'll just have to get used Bloggers functions.
DO YOU GUYS LIKE THE PICTURES BTW, i worked so hard to get them to fit and look nice.

Roz is my homegurl.

- Cristian

P.S I reread this, it is so corny.
You're welcome :D
